Der erfahrene Kopfgeldjäger Morg Hickman kommt in eine Stadt, in der der Sheriff gerade getötet wurde. Der junge, unerfahrene Ben wurde zu seinem Nachfolger ernannt. Er möchte in dieser Position bleiben, muss dafür aber die Stadtbewohner beeindrucken. Als Ben erfährt, dass Morg einst der Sheriff war, bittet er um eine Ausbildung. Morg wird vorübergehend im Haus einer Witwe untergebracht, deren Sohn sich sofort an ihn bindet.
Experienced "bounty hunter" Morg Hickman comes to a town where the sheriff has just been killed, and a young, inexperienced Ben has been appointed to replace him. He wants to stay in this position, but to do so he needs to impress the townspeople. When Ben learns that Morg was once the sheriff, he asks to be trained. Morg is temporarily located in the house of a widow, whose son instantly becomes attached to him.
