Die junge Ärztin Grace Burnham reist auf Einladung der Mutter eines Jungen, der von den Einheimischen und dem Pfarrer verdächtigt wird, vom Teufel besessen zu sein, von New York in eine Kleinstadt. Grace beginnt mit der Behandlung des Kindes und versucht zu beweisen, dass die Anschuldigungen gegen ihn haltlos sind. Doch bald stellt sie mit Entsetzen fest, dass das Kind nicht so einfach ist.
Young doctor Grace Burnham heads from New York to a small town at the invitation of the mother of a boy whom the locals and the pastor suspect of being possessed by the devil.
