Neapel. 1973. Der neunjährige Peppino lebt in einer Familie voller Freaks, in der ständig etwas los ist. Als Gennaro unerwartet stirbt, lässt Peppino ihn in seiner Fantasie wieder auferstehen und verleiht seinem Cousin die Kräfte eines Superhelden. Dank seines neuen imaginären Freundes bewältigt der junge Peppino die Wechselfälle des Alltags und betritt die Welt der Erwachsenen.
Naples, 1973. Little Peppino (Luigi Catani) is seven years old, and his existence is marked by a series of bizarre adventures and heavy events that mark his growth, such as the death of his cousin Gennaro, called Superman because of his habit of going around in overalls and cape on his shoulders to stop buses, in search of the mythical kryptonite. Because of the depression that has affected his mother Rosaria (Valeria Golino) who, after discovering that her husband Antonio (Luca Zingaretti) is cheating on her with a younger lover, is being treated by a psychoanalyst recommended by his grandmother, Peppino is entrusted to Titina (Cristiana Capotondi) and Salvatore (Libero De Rienzo), his two crazy uncles in their twenties, who will lead him on a continuous wander among colorful basement parties, feminist movements, sex, smuggled cigarettes, drugs and alcohol. Keeping him company will always be the ghost of his cousin.
