Es gibt schlechte Nachrichten in Valleby – die Polizeistation soll geschlossen werden. Lasse und Maya versuchen allen zu beweisen, dass die Polizei in ihrer gemütlichen Stadt notwendig ist. Doch ein berühmter Dieb seltener Kunstwerke namens „Art Shadow“ greift in diese Situation ein. Von der Valleby-Galerie aus begeht er einen weiteren Diebstahl. Lasse und Maya beschließen, sich der Aufklärung dieses Verbrechens anzuschließen.
Valleby is overshadowed by bad news. The small village's police station is threatened with closure and Lasse and Maja, together with the chief of police, must quickly come up with a way to save it. When veteran Granat's auctions come to visit, our heroes see their chance to show what Valleby and its police force are all about. But everything is jeopardized when the notorious thief Konstskuggan turns out to be on the loose.
