Irland in den 1970er Jahren, eine Zeit bewaffneter Konflikte zwischen Protestanten und Katholiken. Schüsse fallen, Bomben explodieren auf den Straßen von Belfast. Eine Brücke teilt die Stadt in zwei Welten, und Menschen aus beiden Lagern wird der Zutritt zur anderen verwehrt. Doch Mikibo und Jonyo, Jungen aus beiden Lagern, kümmert das nicht – sie leben in ihrer eigenen Welt. Ihre Idole sind amerikanische Actionfilmhelden, die berühmten Wildwest-Revolverhelden Butch Cassidy und Sundance Kid. Fasziniert von der Romantik des Gangsterlebens beschließen sie, gemeinsam nach Australien zu fliehen.
Ireland in the 1970s, a time of armed conflict between Protestants and Catholics. Gunfire erupts and bombs explode on the streets of Belfast. A bridge divides the city into two worlds, and people from one camp are barred from entering the other. But Mikibo and Jonyo, boys from both sides, care nothing – they live in their own world. Their idols are American action movie heroes, the famous Wild West gunslingers Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Captivated by the romance of gangster life, they decide to flee to Australia together.
