Die junge, schöne Witwe Susanna will den schüchternen Peter aus der schwäbischen Gemeinde heiraten. Ihr achtjähriger Sohn Tim will dies jedoch verhindern und bittet Gott um Hilfe. Am Abend steht Johannes Martin vor der Tür, ein unbeschwerter Anwalt aus Frankfurt, der seine Stelle in einer Kanzlei verloren hat und nach Schwaben gekommen ist, um das Haus seiner verstorbenen Mutter zu erben. Doch eine Überraschung erwartet ihn: Nicht er erbt das Haus, sondern die fürsorgliche Susanna, die mit Tim im Dachgeschoss wohnt. Johannes ist entschlossen, mit allen Mitteln um sein Erbe zu kämpfen.
The young and beautiful widow Susanna is about to marry the timid Peter from the Swabian parish. However, her eight-year-old son Tim wants to prevent this and asks God for help. In the evening, Johannes Martin, a carefree lawyer from Frankfurt, who lost his job at a law firm and came to Swabia to inherit his dead mother's house, appears at the door. But a surprise awaits him: it is not he who inherits the house, but the caring Susanna, who lives on the top floor with Tim. Johannes is determined to fight for his inheritance by any means necessary.
