1989. A mute boy named Dylan has recently lost his mother. He and his father move into a new house, where the boy finds a book of spells. The father goes to work the night shift, and the boy summons a genie who, as the book promises, will grant his wish. Dylan's cherished wish does not come true, but soon strange events begin to happen in the house.

A mute boy is trapped in his apartment with a sinister monster when he makes a wish to fulfill his heart's greatest desire.
