In der Kleinstadt Neustadt wird ein Fest gefeiert – die angehende Zauberin Bibi rettete zwei kleine Kinder aus einem Feuer, indem sie „Regen beschwor“ und das Feuer löschte. Ihre Mutter Barbara, eine Erbzauberin, ist stolz auf ihre Tochter. Und die Oberzauberin Walpurgia beschließt, Bibi früher als üblich die wertvollste Auszeichnung in der Welt der Hexerei und Magie zu überreichen – eine Kristallkugel. Mithilfe dieser Kugel kann sie nun in die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft reisen, aber was noch wichtiger ist – sie wird eine echte Zauberin. Doch die böse Hexe Rabia, die gegen Bibi und ihre Mutter intrigiert hat, schwört, dass sie „weder Schlaf noch Ruhe kennen wird“, bis sie der jungen Zauberin den Schatz wegnimmt, denn Bibi hat ihre Kugel bekommen, die ein Geheimnis birgt …

There is a celebration in the small town of Neustadt - the budding sorceress Bibi saved two small children from a fire by "conjuring rain" and putting out the fire. But the evil witch Rabia, who has been plotting against Bibi and her mother, swears that she "will know neither sleep nor rest" until she takes away the young sorceress's treasure, since Bibi got her ball, which keeps a secret...
